Wildwood Motocross Track

Kentwood, LA – July 6, 2008

Fireworks and a band on Saturday night. Motocross racing at a great track on Sunday. That’s a fun way to spend the holiday weekend. The rain clouds circled around all day knocking off the edge of the steaming LA sun. Only the 125 A and B combined class had to run through a sprinkle during their moto.

The B class riders continue to outshine the A riders this year, with winner Johnny Moore setting a track record on his Got Gear/True Blue Kawasaki. The "Green Hornet" won eight out of eight motos on the day. Though not the ten for ten record that Grant Bourgeois set at Gravity Alley last month, still this is a first for Wildwood MX track, according to track owner Lynn Lejeune. But there were other riders that earned accolades as well.

Roy Barrios got a new 450 Honda and kept it in front of a few of the money riders, as well as Brendan Harp as they chased Moore. Though Barrios had trouble with his suspension settings on his CR250 that caused him to fade badly in the 125 B class, he stayed late after the race to get the settings worked out. Sam Landry dotted his i’s and crossed his t’s on his D&G/Cernics Honda by finishing behind Moore in the 125 Intermediate and Open classes. He punctuated his day with a win in the Schoolboy class. T-Don Lerille dominated the 65 and 85 (7-11) classes on two different bikes. Scott McElroy was the only one to keep him in sight in the 65 Open. J.J. Kepley took third in that class and had fun with the combined 65 (6-9) and (10-11) group. He led the younger class, while cutting through the pack of the older riders.

Aaron Sanches and Cole Heath had one of the best races of the day as they swapped yellow paint in the 85 Open class. Sanches kept the Arkansas speedster behind him in both motos, while Adam Cedillo and Brandon Champagne watched their backs. For pictures, interviews and more, go to www.2wheelcommunications.com.
